pet rabbits contract myxomatosis |
Rabbits should be vaccinated against Myxomatosis, this highly infectious, high mortality disease. Only one injection is needed and this lasts for 1 year, although it is recommended that high risk rabbits (that's those who may have close contact with wild rabbits - those in the country especially) are vaccinated every 6 months.
Viral Haemorrhagic Disease can also be covered, but we do not do this as a routine. Also, it cannot be done at the same time as myxomatosis. We wait 2 weeks between and only one injection is required for this, too.
Young rabbits can be vaccinated from 12 weeks of age. An animal is never too old to be vaccinated
